My girlfriend often house and pet-sits, so when we needed someone to look after OUR dogs, she did an abhorrent amount of research and went for a few tours. We ultimately chose Chasin' Tails after a tour because we felt their staff were the most knowledgeable and experienced (and trust me, my girlfriend was grilling them). We also need a non-caged facility because we were leaving our dogs for more 11 nights. We noticed that it did smell clean (but so did other kennels). We were more impressed with how quiet it was - you could hear dogs playing, but the barking was quite absent. When the dogs were returned to us, they seemed pretty happy, and we were worried they would pick up bad habits, but they were the same, behaviour-wise. They were also very tired, which was a bonus for us. The only thing was that they did smell like other dogs - not badly, but simply like other dogs, but we figure it's because they were actually playing and cuddling with others, so we'll just book them for baths next time.
