Jan. 23rd, By: Admin

Hi all, small update this time, we had some complaints about the calander on the kennels booking page. We just updated it to a nicer looking and functioning calendar.

Clever Crows!

Jan. 21, 2009, By:Admin

Well, I just had to write about this documentary I just watched, called "A Murder of Crows", by CBC's, The Nature of Things with David Suzuki. I have always been aware that crows are no dummies, but I was truly surpised by how smart they truly are. Their intelligence rivals Great Apes and Chimpanzies and one could argue their intelligence may even surpase them.

They make tools (Caledonian Crows), solve complex problems, and even have what is called "theory of mind". Theory of mind is basically the ability to understand others have beleifs, desires, intentions, etc. different from ones own. This alone put them in the top three species in intelligence in the world, which is considerable, since science has identified 2 million so far. I would encourage everyone to watch this documentary and have a new understanding of and appreciation for these amazing birds.

Rescue Ink Response

Date: Jan 20th, 2010, By:Admin

Today I just wanted to share a response to my blog post entitled, "Rescue Ink" from Michelle Albino, the owner of Centeno Kennels.

"I read your blog on Rescue Ink and decided to view the show for myself. I appreciate what they are trying to do, however from what i've seen on the show what they are doing is unacceptble. They have no training, schooling or authorrity to do what they are doing. I saw their episode with the Pittbull they claimed they rehabilitated, but in my profesional opinion that animal was nowhere near ready to be adopted out.I personally had a problem Pittbull case this summer and rehabilatation takes way more than the 4 weeks they gave their rescued Pittbull. I also saw the Bittin Back episode where they entered a dog owner's house. The animal was well fed well socialized, but was doing its business in the house. They threatened the owner to clean his house or else. This intimidating attitude is frowned upon by many of us in the animal profession and I would like any future encouragement of this program to be removed from your site. The United States has very good laws in place to protect animals. They can intervene but bottom line is they should be contacting the proper authorities."

I wanted to post it, as I thought it was a valid comment about Rescue Ink.

KennelSeek Update (v2.2)

Date: Jan 16th, 2010 - By: AdminKennelSeek.com Logo

In this update we made changes to the invoice, how confirmation e-mails are sent to kennels and thier clients, and created a new Sales Report in Statistics:

1.
Invoice: Added a field to record how much the client paid towards their bill at the time of checkout. This is useful if the client did not pay in full at the time of checkout.

2.
Sales Report In Statistics: This report will provide a list of all Bookings between two selected dates and show any outstanding balances for each. Note if your client just paid off their outstanding balance and you want to record this, simply find their booking number in the Sales Report or existing invoice and search with the Booking No. Search and press the Edit Owner Invoice Button. You may then change the amount paid.

3.
Number of Previous Bookings: Discounts to returning clients (not for first time clients). If the Customer signs into their account before booking with a boarding kennel and the number of previous times they have booked with that kennel is within the specified range they will get a discount.

4.
Confirmation E-mails: If you are using the Book a Service function (normally used to record a telephone booking) in your account you may now choose to choose to send a confirmation e-mail to yourself, and choose to send a confirmation e-mail to your client.

KennelSeek Discounts Update

Nov. 27th, 2009 By: Admiin

We have added more discount features to KennelSeek.com to allow kennel owners to more accurately display their rates and discount schedules to their Customers. There are now 6 discount models and their associated parameters:

1.
Days before Arrival: Discount to Customer who book far enough in advance.

2.
Arrival Date Between: If the Customer drop off date is between the specified date range they will get the discount.

3.
Number of Previous Bookings: Discounts to returning clients (not for first time clients). If the Customer signs into their account before booking with a boarding kennel and the number of previous times they have booked with that kennel is within the specified range they will get a discount.

4.
Length of stay (in days): Discount to clients who book their pets into your kennel over a period of time that falls in the range specified.

5.
Multiple Pet Discounts: Allows you to give a discount to clients who book multiple pets. For example, you may charge $20/night for boarding the first dog but only $15/night for each additional dog. With this discount if an individual owner books in multiple dogs a kennel owner may give them a discount.

6.
Individual Pet Discounts: Allows you to give a discount to clients who book multiple pets, but would apply to specific pets only. For example, kennels owners may charge $20/night for boarding the first dog but only $15/night for the second and charge $20/night for every dog after the second dog. With this discount option you may now apply discounts to specific pets.
